What is faith, and is it the only thing required of us?

The Bible describes what faith is:

"What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see." (Heb. 11:1) NLT

But faith needs to be based on concrete evidence. The more one strives to know who God really is and what His principles are, the more he will be able to understand some things that the Bible may not specifically address.

"And this is the way to have eternal life – to KNOW you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth." (John 17:3) NLT

"If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures: Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God." (Prov. 2:5,6) ASV

"Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding." (Prov. 3:5) ASV
